My name is Esoteric, and this website is a place for me to share my hobbies and interests. I spend a lot of my free time working on my hobbies, including biking, backpacking, flipping balisongs, developing games, and many others! I have finished my Bachelors degree in psychology, am working towards getting a statistics minor, and conducting some psych research with my institution, with plans to attend graduate school in a few years. Check out below for an overview of some cool stuff I enjoy!
Bicycle Touring

Bicycle touring is when you travel long distances with backpacking gear attached to the back of your bicycle. I currently ride a 2021 Specialized Diverge, which is a gravel bike (cross between a mountain and road bike). I have biked well over 3,000+ miles and completed multiple trips that spanned many days. I am currently training to bike across the United States in 2026! Check out some of my past trips here!
Backpacking

I have been backpacking/camping since I was a kid and have been all over on 20+ trips. I have traditionally backpacked with others, but found that backpacking alone is a very enjoyable experience on its own. I hope to one day backpack the Pacific Crest Trail. You can check out some of my trips here and see a list of my gear here!
Knives

When I was in 5th grade I started collecting knives. I eventually found out about butterfly knives (balisongs) and immediately thought they were the coolest thing ever. I have been flipping them since about 2015 and still enjoy listening to music and flipping. You can find my post about them here!
Game Development

I also develop video games for fun in Unreal Engine! I specifically am interested in Virtual Reality games and its applications in psychological/theraputic settings. I am currently developing an exposure therapy application for VR. See my posts about game development here!
Everything Else
I also dabble in photo editing in Affinity Photo, video editing in AfterEffects/Sony Vegas, using Blender for 3D modeling, using Gaea for realistic terrain generation, making websites, reading, running, coding in R, drawing, etc. Unfortunately, I don't have the energy to post all of these hobbies, but will occasionally post them in the Projects Section!
